“Dead and Not Buried,” by C. M. Shevlin

Appeared in Dark Tales, issue 5, autumn 2004

1,557 words

Like the first story in this issue, “Dead and Not Buried” is a fun, fast-moving, but ultimately rather shallow piece.

I’m pleased to see that Dark Tales embraces stories without any apparent supernatural or speculative element. Horror, in my opinion, is defined by the feeling it tries to provoke, not by the ways and means.
